After being accepted into the SHAD summer program I decided to apply for a potential summer placement for the month of August through SHAD. After receiving multiple placement offers, I decided to accept an offer from the Centre for Development of Open Technology (CDOT) which is part of Seneca College. After returning from SHAD on July 29th I began my month long internship on August 1rst where I met a fellow SHAD who I would be working with for the duration of the internship.
At CDOT, I am working for the Open Source Technology for Emerging Platforms (OSTEP) research group under Chris Tyler. The project which I am working on is called the Peapod project and is a small (palm sized) internet connected clicker which will be distributed to all the attendees of the annual FSSOS conference. All the members of CDOT have been very welcoming and supportive throughout this internship and are people who I personally look up to as mentors.
As this month long placement comes to an end I can look back and reflect upon this as an eye opening learning experience which only further deepens the impact which SHAD has on my life.
